Aspen, Colo. mandates bear-proof garbage cans

The Aspen City Council on Monday unanimously approved new regulations that require all trash cans in the Colorado city be wildlife resistant, and that each receptacle carry an identifying number so scofflaws can be easily identified. The law, which becomes effective June 1, also limits the time garbage containers may be left outside to between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. The Aspen Times.
