80-pound blue catfish is new Georgia state record

Earnest Timpson of Edison, Ga was night fishing for catfish near the dam at Lake Walter F. George Tuesday night when he caught the fish of a lifetime—an 80-pound, 4-ounce blue catfish that will likely be the new state record for the species upon certification. "When I got it in the boat, I didn't even get the hook out of it. I didn't get him out the net. I laid it down. And I was through for that night," said Timpson of his epic, 45-minute battle.
