In an effort to halt the spread of bovine tuberculosis, federal and private sharpshooters killed 962 deer in a 164-square-mile area of northwestern Minnesota between February and last Friday. The total deer killed since September, including those shot by sharpshooters, hunters and landowners is 2,656, the DNR said Tuesday. Doug Smith reports in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
