The Outdoor Newshound
During his 35 years as a working outdoors journalist, J.R. Absher has been a newspaper reporter, photographer, mule wrangler, magazine editor, political consultant, copywriter, PR director and sportsmen’s advocate. While continuing to contribute to national publications, he has become a favorite among fellow communicators for tracking, collecting and sharing amusing morsels of outdoors oddities and other news about hunting, fishing and the shooting sports on his blogs. A self-proclaimed recovering hermit when he’s not traveling to various hunting and angling locales, he divides his time between a rustic cabin in the backwoods of southern Indiana’s Hoosier National Forest and a 1950s-era southwest-style bungalow in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.
