Caving to pressure, Calif. agency softens mountain lion policy

Succumbing to pressure exerted by animal welfare and mountain lion protection groups, the California Department of Fish and Wildife on Friday announced broad changes to current policies for responding to mountain lions that pose danger to residents of cities and suburbs, implementing a more politically correct use of "nonlethal control measures" while bolstering training for wardens to capture and restrain wildlife. The real reason this policy was changed is that California F&G officiers shot two 14 pound cougar cubs that were cowering in fear as a "danger" to somebody or something. This irrational action spawned the respnse.
