USFS drops plan to merge Idaho, Wyoming forests

The proposed merger of the Bridger-Teton and Caribou-Targhee national forests in Wyoming and Idaho has been dropped after Forest Service officials determined the merger would not be cost effective and would compromise management and the forest’s ability to serve nearby communities.
