Gresham's 'Gun Talk' recruits 6,000+ NRA Life Members

In only three weeks, radio and TV host Tom Gresham delivered more than 6,000 new life members to the NRA, amounting to more than $2,000,000. Gresham announced a special Lifetime Membership deal with the NRA on Thursday, January 10, via Twitter. The next day, the deal was sent out in Gresham's Truth Squad newsletter. What we have here is "Gresham Recruitment," which is a form of Gresham's Law (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gresham%27s_law), only in this case, it's where fringe hysterics and zealots for an extreme position drive out the thinking rational middle.

In the past, we have seen this on the Left with unwashed, tie-dyed, dope-smoking vegans crowding the rooms in the late 1970s.

Now we are seeing it on the right with paranoid, knuckle-dragging, racists turning the NRA into even more of a cartoon than it was.

Same IT, different Zebra, if you know what I mean...

The field is wide open for a sensible organization that trains, that educates, and that sells insurance to gun clubs but is not alled with honest-to-God NUTS.
