Good hunting dogs don't die; they're buried in our hearts

Retired (but still writing) outdoors scribe for The Oregonian, Bill Monroe, offers a remembrance of his chocolate Labrador retriver, Kis, after recently losing his 14-year-old companion and hunting partner to laryngeal paralysis. "We spread Kis' ashes last week, beneath calm blue skies in the place she loved to hunt most -- the water, of course, streams and canals braiding the fields and swamps of the lower Columbia River."
