California wardens kill two mountain lions in backyard

California Department of Fish and Game wardens shot and killed two juvenile mountain lions in a Half Moon Bay backyard Saturday. According to agency spokeswoman Janice Mackey, the two were behaving abnormally and appeared to be accustomed to people. "When these cats are displaying behavior that you can get near them, that can be an issue," she said. "Our wardens spent a good amount of time to give those lions an opportunity to leave and they wouldn't." San Mateo County Times.

These were two 25 pound cubs. They presented absolutely no danger. I would expect law enforcement types to shoot first and ask questions later, but fish and game types should have known better.
