FWS Alaska office braces for 10% exodus at year-end
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service office in Alaska is expecting to lose 40 to 50 employees — just under 10 percent of its total workforce — on Dec. 31 to take advantage of a window to boost retirement pay. The 16 National Wildlife Refuges in the state together total nearly 120,000 square miles, an area about the size of New Mexico. AP.
