The sign of a good hunting dog is often how well it responds to commands like "whoa" and "stay." Maddie, a coonhound that photographer Theron Humphrey acquired from the Cobb County animal shelter in Atlanta, Ga., has refined the meaning of "stay," as the subject of a photo series in which it is pictured frozen in precarious spots, like atop a basketball rim, horse, shopping cart, bicycle, ladder and fire hydrant.
