New guidelines for the wind power industry issued by the Dept. of Interior last week reportedly provide a scientific basis for developers and regulators to identify sites with low risk to wildlife while allowing for more projects on private and public lands. Interior Sec. Ken Salazar said the non-binding guidelines, which replace voluntary guidelines from 2003, have been endorsed by the American Wind Energy Assn and the National Audubon Society.
