While competing in the Wisconsin High School Division 1 cross country sectional at Wausau's 9-Mile County Forest course, Sarah Glidden, Hortonville High School's number-one ranked distance runner, was thrown off stride in a collision with an antlerless deer that streaked out of the woods. Bruised and shaken, the teen failed to qualify for the WIAA state meet, placing 18th overall. Appleton Post-Crescent.
I just blogged about his problem -- of deer collisions with humans -- at Women's Outdoor News. It came to my attention, while out jogging, when a deer charged across my path, that had I been in better shape, I probably would have a hoof print on my temple. Where do you find this stuff, JR?
