Michigan family wins bruising battle with big buck

Writer Bob Kingsley of the Muskegon Chronicle presents the wild tale of the deer-hunting Holtrop family, who worked together to take a huge 14-point buck this week. The morning after Nick Holtrop hit the big deer with a non-fatal shot, brother Jeff tracked it into standing corn. There, the buck blindsided him, knocking him to the ground, causing him to discharge his muzzleloader. Hearing Jeff's screams for help as he fought with the wounded deer for 15-plus minutes, father Jim Holtrop came to his son's rescue and dispatched the bruiser.
