38-point buck brings big buzz to Nebraska

The possible new Nebraska state record buck killed by Texas firearm hunter Wes O'Brien on private land in Richardson County Saturday is the talk of the Cornhusker State. The 38-point buck green-scored 281, indicating it may nudge the 47-year state record, Del Austin's long-standing Pope and Young record 279 7/8 non-typical. O'Brien, who described himself to Joe Duggan of the Lincoln Journal-Star as a "broke white boy who likes to hunt," said he has obtained an agent and will consider selling the antlers when the deer is mounted. Click photo for enlarged view.
