The trailcam photo showing four mountain lions drinking from a San Benito County ranch's water tank combined with an overall increase in lion sightings has California Agriculture Commissioner Paul Matulich convinced that the state needs to relax hunting restrictions and implement a predator management program. "Years ago, you never would see a lion," he said. "Now you see them all the time." In the Hollister Free Lance.
Just a head's up to the readers.
There may or may not be a problem with increasing lions....I'm not an expert so I cannot make a definitive comment on that issue.
However the above reference photo was not taken on the San Benito County rancher's property as he claims.
It is a photo from a permanent wildlife camera in a protected preserve area 300 miles south from the rancher's property.
This type of blatant use of another organization's copyrighted photograph in order to justify his agenda in my opinion really reduces his credibility in this instance.
