Candus Thompson, outdoors writer for the Baltimore Sun, notes that economic concerns are leading the promoters of some fishing, boating and outdoor shows usually held this time of year to scale back or cancel altogether. For example, organizers of the Washington, DC Boat Show announced they will skip 2009 after 47 years of annual events.
