German police say a 6 1/2-foot Wels catfish was found dead Monday, floating in a Bavarian canal with a blue and white soccer ball in its mouth. "The catfish had evidently bitten into the ball and suffocated," Bavarian police said in a statement. "Whether the fish was swept up in the current excitement about football in the wake of the EURO 2008 championship (where Germany lost 1-0 to Spain) could not be ascertained." Spiegel Online reports.
