Despite the failed attempt of Pennsylvania lawmakers to pass a law during the last legislative session requiring that citizens report lost or stolen firearms within 24 hours, the city of Philadelphia is moving ahead with its own reporting ordinance that would impose a fine of $1,900 for non-compliance. The ordinance is the subject of an NRA legal challenge, which contends only the state legislature can enact gun laws. Via AP.
I don't know if I'd say it's NRA contending that only the state legislature can make gun laws. I'd say it's the Pennsylvania Supreme Court which has already ruled on the issue. IIRC, twice even. :)
