A woman who was attacked and mauled by a black bear while walking her dogs east of Bakersfield, Calif. yesterday managed to drive to a fire station to seek medical assistance. Allena Hansen suffered severe cuts to her face and head and was airlifted to UCLA Medical Center. “For her to be attacked in that manner and drive to a fire station, she must have been running on pure adrenaline,” said Kern County Fire Department spokesman Sean Collins.
