A pelican diving for a fish slammed into a woman swimming near Treasure Island, Fla. Thursday. Debbie Shoemaker, 50, required 25 stitches in her cheek. "She was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time because pelicans clearly do not attack," said Anita Pinder, director of Sanibel Island's Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic. In The Tampa Tribune.
