The Minnesota Department of Agriculture has recalled 12,000 pounds of hunter-donated ground venison from the state's food pantries, but stopped short of saying that venison in hunters' freezers presents a health risk. The agency tested 299 samples donated through the state's Hunter Harvested Venison Donation Program and reported "varying levels" of lead fragments in 76. Chris Niskanen in the Pioneer Press.
