Baker City, Ore. jogger Flint Stearns, who carried a police special .38 and an Oregon mountain lion tag during his Jan. 21 morning exercise regimen, followed tracks in the snow that led him to a denned mountain lion in a rocky crevice. When the 90-pound female leapt, he fired two shots at a distance of 5 feet. How did it taste? "It was quite mild, and lean, but not tough and sinewy," Stearns said. "I'd say pork has a stronger flavor." Reported in the Baker City Herald.
